A SENSE OF BELONGING

WHY CHOOSE US?

A SENSE OF BELONGING

At St Mary’s, we believe that a true sense of belonging is the foundation for success. Every student is valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. We foster a welcoming and inclusive community where everyone feels respected, safe, and empowered to contribute. Our shared values and strong relationships create an environment where students grow in confidence, develop lasting friendships, and take pride in being part of the St Mary’s family.

Work together; Succeed together

These core values have very much been created by all members of our school community. Respect, Courage and Pride came through as Values that staff feel are important to define us a community, Students overwhelmingly selected the term Determination and parents very much suggested Compassion as a core value.

Courage

Courage is about stepping out of our comfort zones and facing challenges with confidence. It means speaking up for what is right, taking risks in our learning, and being resilient when faced with setbacks.

Theme of the week: Being a Disciple. In this week’s Gospel, Jesus gives His disciples a powerful new commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you.” It’s more than a suggestion - it’s the defining mark of a true disciple. Being a disciple of Jesus isn’t just about what we believe; it’s about how we live. It’s shown in our love, kindness, and forgiveness toward others. When we choose to love in our words and actions, we reflect Jesus to the world and show that we truly belong to Him. Let’s live the love He calls us to this week. #FaithInAction #Reflection
What a Day! A huge thank you to Miss Cullen and Ms Jones for organising a fantastic School Free Comic Book Day! Students had a blast diving into exciting stories, discovering new characters, and celebrating the joy of reading. Your hard work and creativity made it a day to remember! #ReadingIsFun #ComicBookJoy
What a fantastic day with our Year 9 students on their Duke of Edinburgh practice walk! They showed resilience and teamwork every step of the way. From muddy paths to map reading challenges, they handled it all with determination. So proud of their effort and enthusiasm - bring on the expedition! 🥾🧭 #DofE #Teamwork
Big congratulations to our amazing alumnus Patrick McDowell on receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design! Theme of the week: Belonging. In the Gospel this week, Jesus says, “My sheep listen to my voice… I know them.” We are known, loved, and safe in His hands. The theme of belonging is so important as it reminds us that we are never alone - always part of God’s family. #Reflection #Belonging
Good luck to our amazing Year 11 & 13 students starting their GCSE, A Level & BTEC exams this week! We’re so proud of your resilience & determination. You’ve got this! #gcse #alevel #btec #proud
Theme of the week: Bravery. In the Gospel this week, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb despite fear. The disciples hid, but Jesus came to bring peace and courage. Being brave doesn’t mean not being afraid - it means trusting Jesus and doing what’s right, even when it’s hard. #Faith #Bravery #Reflection
