"Disabled students and those with special educational needs receive a wide range of support which enables them to make good progress and achieve well." (OFSTED 2012)
At St. Mary’s we value all learners in a positive learning environment. We recognise that every child or young person has individual needs that we address through the implementation of the Code of Practice 2014, as outlined in the college SEN Information Register, in doing so we are an educationally inclusive College.
Our well established and experienced SEN team supports students with a wide range of needs and makes "learning for all" a priority. Our positive and supportive environment addresses the needs of individuals and allows all learners to progress successfully.
Students with literacy and numeracy difficulties are identified and taught in small classes in English and Mathematics. Performing Arts provide opportunities for all students to explore issues vicariously in a safe learning environment. Many students identified as having additional needs attend a variety of after school clubs, developing social and independent living skills in the process.
"Support for students whose circumstances make them vulnerable is excellent." (Ofsted 2012)
