'The beauty of detail...'

'The beauty of detail...'

Professional artist Ian Murphy gave a day's master class to Year 11 art students, sharing his exceptional abilities in architectural drawing.

Wigan-born Ian, who studied art at degree level in Sheffield, works in mixed media, with a particular emphasis on graphite.

He inspired St Mary's GCSE students to appreciate the 'beauty of detail' by learning to make gestural sketches that 'capture the tonal range'.

Head of Art Miss Rachel Holman said: 'Ian really impressed our students with his ability to create stunning pieces, and his skill in communicating and demonstrating his techniques.'
