Bishop Mark's Message

THE POWER OF PRAYER

BISHOP MARK MEETS ST MARY'S STUDENTS

Bishop Mark Davies has spoken to St Mary's students about the power of prayer.

Bishop Mark, Bishop of Shrewsbury, came to meet student representatives and answered their questions about modern life and how they viewed the world.

He took part in an impromptu question-and-answer session, speaking to them of the challenges in keeping our Catholic faith in an increasingly secular society.

Bishop Mark toured the college, spending time in our Bosco Centre and with members of our College Council.

'WITHOUT PRAYER I CAN DO NOTHING'

Sixth Former Shay Collins asked him how he felt towards God when so many 'bad things go on in the world, and probably always will do'.

'FAITH IS ALWAYS A CHALLENGE'

He answered: 'Faith is always a challenge. But that is where my trust is placed. Also, I believe in the importance of prayer. Without prayer, I can do nothing.' The Bishop asked the students what they thought was good about St Mary's. Several of them told him how much they valued the unstinting help and support they receive from St Mary's staff.
