Materials Technology

GCSE Design and Technology will prepare students to participate confidently and successfully in an increasingly technological world. Students will gain awareness and learn from wider influences on Design and Technology including historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic factors. Students will get the opportunity to work creatively when designing and making and apply technical and practical expertise.

Our GCSE allows students to study core technical and designing and making principles, including a broad range of design processes, materials techniques and equipment. They will also have the opportunity to study specialist technical principles in greater depth.

 

 

Engineering – Level 2

The level 2 course provides learners with a broad introduction to the engineering sector and the types of career opportunities available.  It is suitable as a foundation for further study.  This further study could provide learners with the awareness of the work of different types of job roles in the sector such as design engineers, civil engineers, technicians and mechanical engineers.  As a result, they may wish to start an apprenticeship or continue with their studies into higher education in order to pursue those job roles.

Food and Cookery – Level 2

Students will learn about safe and hygienic preparation of the cooking environment, the sources and seasonality that can affect food choices, food labels and cooking for a range of purposes.

They will develop skills:

The Knowledge and skills gained will provide a secure foundation for careers in the food and cookery occupational areas.
