Psychology

Psychology comes from two Greek words; Psyche refers to the mind and Logos refers to Knowledge or Study. Ψ is the Greek letter psi and it is the international shorthand symbol for the word Psychology.

What is Psychology?

Psychology is the fourth science. It was once defined as study of the mind however, it the definition is now much broader in that it also includes the study of behaviour.  Therefore, Psychologists study mind and behaviour scientifically. Like the other sciences, Psychology aims to describe, explain and evaluate behaviour. If we can predict behaviour, society can be improved. If we can find out what makes people behave in the way that they do, we have more control over the world in which we live.
