Dear Parents and Carers

We have enjoyed a very positive start to the summer term. It is clear that our children are still loving being back in school and enjoying their learning.

Have we managed to resolve all the uniform issues due to some shops being closed?

Thank you for your support in resolving almost all the remaining uniform issues. Some of you have apologised that you had not purchased shoes , in particular, as you were waiting for wider retail to reopen this week and would resolve it this weekend. So, by Monday, we should all be there.

When is the best time for my child to complete their LFT test at home?

Please try to ensure your child completes their Lateral Flow Test on a Sunday evening if at all possible. it avoids the situation of an asymptomatic child coming into school at the start of the week and having possible close contact with other members of the school community. If the child then tests positive on Monday evening all the possible close contacts identified have to be sent home to self isolate for 10 days, pending the outcome of the confirmatory PCR test.

Will there be more LFT test kits sent out next week?

Yes, we are aware that, assuming you are testing twice a week, the test kits we sent before Easter will run out next week and pupils will be issued with a new box of test kits.

Can members of our household still get their own kits?

Yes. Wirral LA has asked us to reshare how you can get hold of them.

All households in Wirral can now access twice-weekly rapid symptom-free tests. Alongside vaccine rollout, regular testing will help us to prevent outbreaks, it would be appreciated if you could help share this information with parents and carers.

Regular symptom-free testing can be accessed at one of Wirral’s four Community Testing centres:

  • Floral Pavilion, New Brighton, 7 days a week, 10.30am to 6.15pm
  • Greasby Library, 7 days a week, 10.30am to 6.15pm
  • Eastham Library, 7 days a week, 10.30am to 6.15pm
  • Former House of Fraser Building, Birkenhead, 6 days a week (closed Sunday) 9am to 4.15pm.

Residents have the choice of attending the centres to take a test with the support of the staff there, or collecting a box of kits for the household to use at home. Testing kits can also be collected from the symptoms-only testing centres in Birkenhead, Bebington, Liscard and Heswall from 2.30pm to 8pm every day.

For those that can’t access tests through the above routes, they can be ordered online or through 119, which will be delivered to the home address.

More information on all of the ways to access testing in Wirral is available at: www.wirral.gov.uk/test  or call the Coronavirus Helpline on 0151 666 5050.

How can we contribute to reducing air pollution?

Led in school by our Faith in Action Group, we are supporting a local campaign which highlights the pollution caused by idling engines of cars picking up children from local schools. More details to follow but I know you will want the heads up so you can play your part immediately.

Hopefully we can all enjoy a sunny weekend.
