Dear Parent and Carers

Face coverings

Thank you for your support with this. By the end of this week, it has become the new norm for pupils to arrive with one in their possession and they are quickly getting into the habit of wearing them in communal places.

Clearly, it is preferable that pupils bring their own and it is good if they can be reusable as this is more environmentally friendly than disposable masks. We have been able to provide a basic disposable 3-ply mask in the cases where pupils have forgotten or lost their own. Please keep reminding them and thank you for your support with this.

Reporting COVID Symptoms and Test Results

As is the case on the Wirral and beyond, we have had an increasing number of confirmed COVID cases and a significantly larger number of pupils reporting Coronavirus symptoms or close contact with people who have them or have tested positive outside of school. Up to this point, people have been contacting us via the school office phone number or email the school office email that is also used for many other communications with school. If people ring or email out of office hours, particularly over the weekend, these messages are not picked up potentially until a few days later.

To address this we have set up a separate email, which will be monitored outside of office hours:

Google Classroom at St Mary’s

At St Mary’s we use Google Classroom to support your child with Home Learning and to set homework.

You can access Google Classroom in a number of different ways:

1) from the St. Mary’s website www.stmaryswallasey.com

2) by searching for it or going to https://classroom.google.com/

3) by downloading the GoogleClassroom to a mobile device through the AppStore or equivalent.

Your child will have all their classes automatically populated in the classroom, which staff will use to post and assign work.

Your child will be given instructions on how to access it; however, the following brief instructions will help you at home.

Your child can login to the classroom by using their username and password, which follow a generic format:

Username

This is your child’s current username for the school’s network (year entered into St Mary’s followed by the first four letters of their first name, then a dot, then the first four letters of their surname) with the school domain following.

Example for Harry Smith
Harry Smith Year 7 (started in 2020) – [email protected] or
Harry Smith Year 8 (started in 2019) – [email protected]

Password

6 digit date of birth followed by your child’s initials in capitals So, if for example Harry Smith’s date of birth is 7th of April 2008, his password is

07042008HS

Thank you for your continuing support, understanding and encouragement for our work at this time. It is much appreciated.

Yours faithfully
