Year 9 Options Evening – Thursday 3rd March 5.30 -7.00

As you will be aware, Year 9 Options Evening is this Thursday 3rd March, in school, from 5.30 – 7pm.

To make the evening as accessible and flexible as possible, the main presentation is available here for you to watch before you arrive. This is in place of a ticketed event in the main theatre on the evening. The video outlines how the options process works and gives you some information about how your child can access further support in making their choices.

As well as speaking to Subject Leaders and Teachers about any questions you have about GCSE Options, you can also collect your child’s personalised Options form which will outline the choices that are available for pupils to study.

This year’s Year 9 Options Booklet that accompanies the Form, is available here and will also be available to download through a QR code on the evening.

It’s really important that you and your child attend this event to give them the best introduction to this process and we do hope you can join us – the expectation is that pupils should be in uniform.

Over the next three weeks, we will continue to offer advice through assemblies, lessons and form time. We are asking that all Options Forms be returned to Mr Davies by Monday 31st March. Once the choices are all collected, the next stage of the process will be for us to collate this information and make sure we think pupils have made great choices. We will then look at the viability of different courses and be in a position to confirm these for pupils and parents around May.

Start Options Programme

Our Start Options Programme was launched with Year 9 pupils in the last few weeks. and they have logged on and started to customise their profile with details about their skills, qualities and interests.  Start personalises this information, helping them to navigate the thousands of courses and opportunities available to help them put their GCSE choices into context. More information can be found here: https://careers.startprofile.com/page/gcse-equivalent

We encourage you to use Start with your child at home. Parents and carers can access the platform without the need to login but you can also create an account for free.
