A SENSE OF BELONGING

WHY CHOOSE US?

A SENSE OF BELONGING

At St Mary’s, we believe that a true sense of belonging is the foundation for success. Every student is valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. We foster a welcoming and inclusive community where everyone feels respected, safe, and empowered to contribute. Our shared values and strong relationships create an environment where students grow in confidence, develop lasting friendships, and take pride in being part of the St Mary’s family.

From a well-stocked Library to a range of high-quality interventions and our very own School Poet, we strive to help our students to gain Literacy skills that will enable them to thrive throughout their lives.

Work together; Succeed together

These core values have very much been created by all members of our school community. Respect, Courage and Pride came through as Values that staff feel are important to define us a community, Students overwhelmingly selected the term Determination and parents very much suggested Compassion as a core value.

Courage

Courage is about stepping out of our comfort zones and facing challenges with confidence. It means speaking up for what is right, taking risks in our learning, and being resilient when faced with setbacks.

A fantastic start to the Wirral Cup for our Year 8 boys football team with a dominant 5-1 victory away at South Wirral. Goals from Taylor L, Cameron W and Caiden C. A superb performance from start to finish. Onto the next round!
Theme of the week: We Are Chosen and Called. This week’s Gospel reminds us of a powerful moment at the River Jordan. As Jesus is baptised by John, the Holy Spirit descends and God’s voice is heard: “This is my Son, whom I love.”

In that moment, Jesus is revealed as chosen and called for a special mission. It’s also a beautiful reminder for each of us. God knows us personally, loves us deeply, and calls us by name. 💙

Just as Jesus was chosen, we too are chosen, to live with purpose, to use our gifts, and to make a positive difference in the world around us. This Gospel encourages us to listen for God’s voice in our own lives and to respond with trust and courage, just as Jesus did. #reflection
Last term, Mr Murray’s WJEC PE class were introduced to the exciting sport of Kin-Ball. A huge well done to Jack, Alfie, Fin, Poppy and Harrison, who showed excellent leadership by confidently introducing the sport to their peers and helping others get involved. 👏 Big thank you to Wirral School Games for their fantastic support and for lending the Kin-Ball equipment to the school.
Many thanks to Father Michael who joined us today to celebrate the Mass of the Epiphany. It was a beautiful and reflective service, reminding us of hope, light, and the joy of the season. #Epiphany 🙏✨
Theme of the week: Good News. In our Gospel reading we hear the story of the Epiphany. The Wise Men, also known as the Magi, followed a bright star on a long journey to Bethlehem to honour the newborn Jesus. They brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh as signs of love and respect for the new King.

This story reminds us that Jesus came for everyone, no matter where they are from, and that God’s love is for the whole world 🌍💫 The visit of the Wise Men is Good News because it shows that Jesus brings hope, light and joy to all people.

Just like the Magi, we are invited to recognise this Good News and share it with others through kindness, generosity and love 🤍✨
We are really looking forward to welcoming back all students on Tuesday. #springterm #welcomeback #community
Have a very happy and Holy Christmas from everyone at St Mary's! 🎄
Another magical moment from the HFCMAT Carol Service 🎶✨ Our choir delivered a truly moving performance, lifting everyone’s spirits and reminding us of the power of music to bring people together. An absolute credit to our community and a performance to be proud of! 🌟🎄
Our school panto Cinderella was a sparkling success! From dazzling costumes and laugh-out-loud moments to brilliant performances and plenty of audience participation, the cast and crew truly put on a magical show 👠✨

A huge well done to everyone involved, for the hard work, confidence, and creativity that brought this classic to life. What a fairy-tale ending! 💙
