In a joint venture between our Trust Secondary Schools, some of our Year 11 pupils from St Mary’s and St John Plessington enjoyed a residential visit to two Cambridge Colleges: Magdalene and Emmanuel.

On the first day they had an introduction to Higher Education pathways before being taken on a tour of Magdalene College by current Cambridge students, which included watching the ‘punters’ on the River Cam, flowing magnificently alongside the main grounds.

After a restful overnight stay at the local Youth Hostel, our pupils then embarked on a tour of Emmanuel College, getting the chance to visit the chapel, a listed building originally designed by Sir Christopher Wren. They then took part in a ‘Study Skills and Critical Thinking’ workshop, before returning to the Wirral. The pupils involved were a credit to their schools and the Trust throughout the visit.

This trip is part of our on-going ‘raising aspirations’ initiative.

Thank you to the parents/carers involved in the ‘early drop off’ and ‘late return’ arrangements which allowed this event to happen.
