Since September 2018, we have helped get up our own Faith in Action group for students with growing numbers each week (29 members at the moment).
Key work that we have done as a group/Chaplaincy team is:
- 6th October 2017 we raised over £150 on CAFOD Family Fast Day by selling soup in the canteen. The idea being students would give up their normal lunch and have soup instead.
- During October half term, we had our pilgrimage to the Holy land.
- 1st November 2017 we took the entire of year 7 over to Holy Apostles and Martyrs for All Saints Day Mass.
- Throughout the whole of November 2017 we encouraged students to use our book of remembrance in the chapel.
- Throughout December we had our SVP shoebox appeal, Wirral food bank appeal, the Christmas Pensioners Party, Carol service and Advent mass.
- January 2018 saw Gideon’s come in to year 7 and 8 assemblies.
- February 2018 we had our Ash Wednesday liturgies and the start of lent.
- March 2018 we had our Easter Liturgies where the Faith in Action group had a key role. On 22nd March, we also took the Faith in Action group to ‘Explore Lent’ (an event run by Shrewsbury Youth Mission Team) at St Joseph’s Church in Upton.
- Also in March 2018 we did our ‘Share the Journey’ walk with Year 7 in aid of refugees.
- On 27th April 2018 the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal came in to school to speak to pupils.
- On 10th May 2018 we took Year 7 over to Holy Apostles and Martyrs for the Feast of the Ascension.
