China trip. 🇨🇳 Ready for the journey!

Our students in Shanghai!

Our students have arrived safely and are enjoying the sights of Shanghai.  

This morning we learnt about Chinese minorities, Jade & traditional furniture amongst other things at the Shanghai Museum.

Yu Gardens

In the evening we visited the Xintiandi / French quarter before dinner.

Saturday: After a hearty breakfast we have been to Shanghai museum, Yū gardens and walked along Xintiandi Shikumen (the French quarter).

Early start today. Suzhou – Old waterways and Chinese culture (chicken feet, which some of our group were adventurous enough to try). Driving to Taicang this evening ready for school tomorrow.

Our students have headed off to Taicang Ludu Middle School today.

Our students have enjoyed their day at Taicang Ludu Middle School.

Today our students enjoyed a Mandarin lesson and dumpling making!

Students also took part in a Chinese character calligraphy lesson.

Today our students have enjoyed traditional paper cutting at school

Students then took part in a music lesson – learning to play the traditional Guzheng (古箏)

Followed by a trip to the local high school.

We ended the day with a visit to old Taicang, tried our hand at pottery and tasted some Chinese tea!

Our last day at school started with a game of basketball, followed by some Tai Chi.

Next we took part in some games to test core strength and balance. Followed by lunch!

Our group then spent the afternoon in Taicang Planning Museum learning about the growth of the city.

Finally, we headed back to our partner school, for the farewell party.

This morning we visited Zhujiajiao, a water town on the outskirts of Shanghai.
