On the 25th of January in a collaborative event, St Mary’s hosted an Oxford workshop for selected students from St Mary’s, St John Plessington and Weatherhead. Anna McMurtrie, who studied Geography at Oxford, covered a range of topics including the number of colleges available, the collegiate system, application deadlines and admission tests.
Students came up with answers to ‘often asked’ interview questions and Anna was really impressed by the quality of their responses.
The students came away understanding that Oxford colleges are keen to ensure that places are secured based on ability and desire, rather than social background or financial wealth.
