What is DofE?

Whilst the Duke of Edinburgh award is an individual journey, it is a life changing experience for all who join and involves the following aspects:

  • Fun with friends
  • Discover new talents and interests
  • Develop new skills 
  • Develop your employability skills 
  • Gain a recognised mark of achievement by all employers

 

If this is something that interests you remember any young person can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, background or location. Achieving an award isn’t a competition about being first, its about setting personal challenges and pushing yourself to achieve.

Our school Vision is to work together; succeed together. Duke of Edinburgh is an award where we see this Vision become a reality. 

How do I get involved?

Here at St Mary’s Catholic College we offer all levels of the award.

  • Bronze – Year 9/10
  • Silver – year 10/11
  • Gold Year 12/13

And by Visiting Miss Unwin who is our current Duke of Edniburgh Coordinator. The school also organises the expedition sections which includes training and qualifying expeditions in the north of England.
