Paying for meals in the Canteen Update

You might remember that I wrote at the start of the year and shared that we had experienced some

teething problems with our new IT systems which had affected our ability to record your child’s food purchases in the first few days of term from 2nd 4th September. We would never see a child go hungry so in order to ensure this we have not charged any pupils’ accounts for period. In the case of Year 7 pupils we needed to set up their new Parent Pay accounts. This has now been done.

In the week beginning the 7th September the cashless catering system was largely up and running but on certain tills there were still some difficulties and so the transactions were recorded manually on paper by the staff to be entered on to the system when it was repaired. I am pleased to report that the system is now fully functional. I need to make you aware that we will be entering these transactions on to the system which may explain why your child’s balance appears to go down more quickly for a period of time as we do need to cover the cost of the food we provided. This will only affect the children whose purchases were written down at the time of purchasing their food.

Can I also ask that you keep an eye on the balance on your child’s account as there are occasional instances where pupils do not have enough money on their account and it needs topping up. Thanks for your support and understanding.
