This is taught as part of the Aspire Curriculum. Students will have two half term blocks in drama across the year, each block consists of 9 hours.
Year 7
In Year 7 Drama students will be introduced to key drama skills and conventions. The focus will be on how they can use conventions to create and develop performance material. Students will also explore and develop the use of key acting skills and the role of an actor. Themes used in year 7 include fairytales and superheroes.
Year 8
In Year 8 students will build on the skills and conventions learnt in Year 7, as well as learning new techniques and performance styles. These will be explored through issue based workshops and the exploration of Theatre in Education style and structure.
Year 9
In year 9 students will explore scripted plays and how characters are portrayed and performed on stage. They will learn how to devise and structure drama as well as refine their application of performance skills. This year will give students an insight into the work explored and covered in KS4.
