Year 10 and 11 BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care
In year 10 you will study the following:
Component 1 – Human Lifespan Development (Coursework)
Students will learn how we grow and develop across different life stages, from infancy to old age. They will also investigate how human development is affected by different factors and life events.
Component 2 (Learning Aim A) – Health & Social Care Services and Values (Coursework)
Students will understand the different health and social care services available and how they meet the needs of service users, they will then go on to consider the barriers that make it difficult for service users to access the services.
In year 11 you will study the following:
Component 2 (Learning Aim B) - Health & Social Care Services and Values (Coursework)
Students will learn about the care values in health and social care, they will demonstrate these care values and review their own practice.
Component 3 – Health & Wellbeing - (Externally Assessed)
Students will study the positive and negative factors that affect health and wellbeing, they will design a health and wellbeing improvement plan, indicating short and long term targets and considering the difficulties people may face implementing the plan.
This unit builds on knowledge developed in components 1 and 2.
Year 11 BTEC First Health & Social Care (Current Year 11 Only)
In year 11 you will study the following units:
Equality & Diversity
You will study Discriminatory and Non-discriminatory practice in health and social care, legislation that supports equality and how we can adapt care services to benefit individuals. (Coursework)
Health and Social Care Values
You will learn the importance of dignity, respect, individualised care and confidentiality in care settings. You will demonstrate your understanding of the care values through roles play. (Coursework)
