Dear parents/carers,
Further to my letter on Friday 20th of January, regarding the upcoming, nationally organised strike action, I am now able to provide you with an update for the plan on Wednesday 1st February 2023 only, specific plans for future strike dates will be sent out 1 week before each strike.
We have now evaluated our ability to provide an onsite education and, after carrying out a full health and safety risk assessment, can confirm the following plans for Wednesday 1st February 2023:
Wednesday 1 February 2023 | |
Year 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 | Students will remain at home on this date. Students should access work on Google Classroom from home. Information and reminders about how to access Google Classroom – including login details and help videos can be found here. For those students in year 11 with a BTEC examination on Wednesday 1st February should attend school at 08:35 as normal ready for their exam which begins at 9am. Students will be able to leave school when their exam finishes. |
Year 12 & 13 | Students will attend College as normal. |
Lunch time | All students are entitled to attend College from 12:45 – 13:30 for lunch, this will be free for students eligible for free school meals and a paid service for other students. During this time students will be able to access the canteen and a designated playground space. If you wish for your child to attend school for lunch on this date please complete this form. The form will need to be completed no later than 3pm on Monday 30th January. By registering for lunch you are authorising your child to leave the school building at 13:30pm. To accommodate this there will be enhanced PSHE work on Google Classroom during period 5. This will align with our Inspire Time programme |
I’m sorry that you will have to make alternative arrangements for your child at short notice, and that they will experience disruption to their education. We have not taken this decision lightly. We remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our pupils, and feel that we would be unable to provide this with the staff we have available.
We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you as soon as possible if arrangements change further.
Please note if the school is open for your child on this day, it is your legal responsibility to ensure they attend.
Please also note, the Shrek performance at the Floral Pavilion will go ahead as planned.
Thank you in advance for your support
Mr Maddocks
