Dear Parents and Carer
It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of St Mary’s Catholic College. I was delighted to be appointed by the Governors and the Trust to lead a College which has such a rich history and one that I have many personal links with. I am committed to the continued success of St Mary’s Catholic College and to ensure that all children “Love and Serve Christ Within Us All”. It is my belief that every child has the right to an outstanding Catholic education, which inspires and motivates them to challenge their own thinking and the thinking of others; one which creates confidence and independence, whilst raising their aspirations and creating lifelong learners. From my experience to date, I know that this can only be achieved through a strong partnership between the College and parents. Together we can ensure that our College is Ready, Respectful and Safe.
I have high expectations of our young people and it has been wonderful this week to see so many children working hard and living by our values each day. From reviewing College policies on uniform standards and attitudes to learning, I will need your support in the coming weeks and months to ensure all students are fulfilling the promises they made when choosing St Mary’s as their school. I will be working with the students to remind them of our high standards and expectations that as supportive parents/carers you expect us to maintain at the College. I will write out to update you on the progress we are making towards the end of the term.
The first step in cementing the partnership between the College and parents is for me to gain an insight into your experiences of St Mary’s. This will help us to celebrate our successes and also to formulate an action plan for improvement. I have provided a link to a parent/carer survey, completing this will enable me to listen to as many parents as possible when making the necessary changes in the near future. The survey will be open until 11am on Friday 12th November.
Finally, as an additional method of communication I am going to run a series of Headteacher Drop–in session for parents. The first of the events will be held on SchoolCloud between 12:30pm-7:30pm on Thursday 18th November. Further details are contained within the survey.
