At St. Mary’s we follow the Eduqas AS/ A-Level specification. Students are working towards 4 exams at the end of Year 13 and achieve a lettered grade from A*-E.

 

 

Component 1: Changing Landscapes and Changing Places (20.5% of total qualification):

 

 

Component 2: Global Systems and Global Governance (27.5% of total qualification):

 

 

Component 3: Contemporary Themes in Geography (32% of total qualification):

 

 

Component 4: Independent Investigation (20% of total qualification):

 

A non-exam assessment which is commonly known as controlled assessment. Students undertake their own investigation of a geographical concept, designing their own hypothesis, writing a methodology, collecting data, analysing data then writing a conclusion and finally a critical evaluation of the whole process. This is done with as little input from teaching staff as possible.
